writing programs
For many students, academic writing is very difficult. ALR, therefore, provides unique writing programs to help students learn what constitutes as good writing at the collegiate level. Unlike English essays taught in high school, academic and research writing requires a different set of skills that students lack once they enter college. To help bridge that gap, ALR has various writing programs catered to help students expand their writing skills.
The Research Writing Program (RWP) prepares high school students for academic research writing in college. This popular program pairs rising high school juniors and seniors with a working professional and writing expert to teach them the research writing process expected in top tier universities across the globe. Students will learn how to do a literature review, research proposal, evaluate sources, and present their findings to a critical audience.
Research writing can be difficult and daunting for many college students, so why not get a head start to make the transition easier?

Writing Intermediate caters to students who have gained experience in high school writing but still struggle in composing structured and dense writing appropriate for their grade level. Most non-native writers fall into this category as they struggle in translating from their native language to English writing. Standard Writing Conventions will be revisited as well as topics in advanced essay writing and research inquiry. After this, students may advance into ALR’s Research Writing Program.
